After taking more than 6 years to write, Detroit poet Victor Billione Walker brings his long anticipated poetic play the Birth of Mars to the stage.
Inspired by the Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, by Ntozake Shange, MARS also touches on issues of race, class, gender and sexuality.
"When I read Ensler and Shange's masterpieces, I began to see the women's issues they addressed as displaced men's issues and wanted to get to the root of it," Billione said.
The World Premiere will be held in Detroit, Michigan Fall 2013.
