Today is one of my favorite days of the year: the day we honor a man who represents so much to so many. The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is an important part of history, though some argue that he was a womanizer, pacifist and lackey of the Kennedy administration.
I choose to see him as a man who did what he thought was right, shared his vision for progress and died believing that each of us could be better.
I also, want to note that this is also the day of the public swearing in of President Barack Obama for a second term.
It is an honor to be living at a time where the nation's first black president serves his country in a way many of us could only imagine.
These men are far from perfect, and sometimes I question their action, but as with any man, we all are on a journey where our mistakes are just as that. However, it is the journey itself that is important.
